Children’s Occupational Therapy in Chatswood & North Shore

Integral Occupational Therapy provides high-quality Children’s Occupational Therapy in Chatswood, supporting families across Sydney’s North Shore to nurture each child’s growth and development.

For children, the term “occupation” encompasses all the everyday activities that shape their lives. Childhood should be filled with joy, and the roles they embrace—such as being a son or daughter, a sibling, a student, and a friend—should not be limited by developmental challenges.

Integral Occupational Therapy delivers tailored support for children and adolescents to address challenges in the following key areas, strengthening their participation and confidence in these vital “occupations”:

Our mission is to help every child maximise their potential and experience a fulfilling childhood. Our Occupational Therapists work collaboratively with your child’s support network—including teachers, caregivers, and other health professionals—to establish meaningful short- and long-term goals. This ensures a personalised, capacity-building approach that supports your child to thrive at home, at school, and in the community.

Ongoing Occupational therapy in Chatswood

NDIS Capacity Building

Ongoing Occupational Therapy often follows the outcomes of a Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA). Under the NDIS, this sits within Capacity Building, the support designed to develop essential functional skills and increase independence over time.
At Integral Occupational Therapy, our therapy programs are guided by the recommendations identified in the FCA, ensuring intervention is purposeful, evidence-based, and aligned with NDIS goals. Through personalised occupational therapy and rehabilitation programs, we translate assessment findings into meaningful, practical strategies that empower our clients to participate more confidently at home, at school, and in everyday life.

How does it work?

At Integral Occupational Therapy, we believe in empowering people with disabilities of all ages with physical, psychosocial, sensory, or cognitive disabilities.

Our therapists work closely with clients to understand their needs and concerns, personalizing the therapy and rehabilitation programs that are best suited to their circumstances. 1. Do you provide children’s occupational therapy in Chatswood?

Yes. Integral Occupational Therapy provides children’s OT (paediatric occupational therapy) in Chatswood and across the North Shore. We support school readiness, emotional regulation, social skills, motor development, and everyday independence.

2. What ages do you work with?

We work with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Our practice has a strong focus on children’s OT, while also providing disability-focused OT for adults who need support at home or in the community.

3. Do you work with NDIS participants?

Yes. We support NDIS participants of all ages, including children, adults, and older adults. Our services include ongoing OT therapyFunctional Capacity Assessments (FCA), Home and Living Functional Assessments,  Assistive Technology assessments, and Home Modification assessments.

4. Do you offer home visits and community-based OT

Yes. We offer clinic-based appointments in Chatswood, as well as home, school and community visits across the North Shore and surrounding suburbs, making occupational therapy accessible for families and NDIS participants.

5. What happens in a children’s OT session?

A children’s occupational therapy (paediatric OT) session is warm, engaging, and tailored to your child. While it often looks like play, every activity is thoughtfully chosen to build key skills such as emotional regulation, attention, motor coordination, social interaction, and everyday independence.

Your child might be drawing, building, climbing, playing games, or practising real-life tasks. Through these activities, our occupational therapist supports your child to try new strategies, build confidence, and experience success in small, achievable steps. We also observe how your child responds, what helps them feel calm, and what makes tasks easier or more challenging.

Parents are welcome to be involved. We share practical strategies and simple activities you can use at home or at school so progress continues between sessions. Each children’s OT session is personalised—there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Our goal is to make therapy positive, meaningful, and relevant to your child’s everyday life.

6. Do I need a referral for children’s OT?

No referral is required to start children’s occupational therapy. Families are welcome to contact us directly to book an appointment.

If your child is an NDIS participant, we can work with you, your Support Coordinator, or Plan Manager to ensure therapy aligns with your child’s NDIS plan. We can also guide you on what information may be helpful before your first session.

If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, a referral from your GP is required under a Chronic Condition Management Plan (CCMP) (previously known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan or EPC). Your GP can help determine whether your child is eligible for this plan.

Whether your child has a diagnosis or you simply have concerns about their development, learning, behaviour, or wellbeing, you are welcome to reach out. Early access to children’s OT and paediatric occupational therapy can make a meaningful difference.
